Walton County Virtual Franchise

Walton County continues to move forward in the process toward becoming a full franchise of Florida Virtual School! This means an end to the long waits to enroll and beginnings of local connectivity with online teachers!!

The highly experienced and valued Ok Online director Jeff Welsh will be overseeing the Walton franchise. welshj@mail.okaloosa.k12.fl.us

When should I enroll in classes?

A website will be completed in July to accept registrations for Walton Online. The program will follow a traditional school calendar with classes available on the first day of school and coursework deadlines falling on the last day of school.

Florida Virtual usually recommends you register 2-3 weeks before your intended start date and has rolling start and completion dates.

Beyond this, we have numerous other excellent vendor options for further out-of state, tuition-based course choices.

If your student has been enrolled in Florida Virtual, you are more than welcome to continue to use FLVS for your coursework. However, we highly recommend you make the switch to Walton Online as we will be integrating field work and experiential learning into the coursework with our local teachers.

Please talk over the available courses and scheduling with Tim and Amy prior to making your decisions!!
